What to Check During a Construction-Site Visit Before Buying Off-Plan
Use the visit to verify, not just to take photos
A construction visit can help a buyer understand the real location, access, surrounding area and visible progress. Follow site-safety instructions and only enter areas approved by the project team.
Compare the site with the project information
Ask where your preferred building and unit sit within the development. Look at access, neighbouring buildings, planned common areas and orientation.
Ask what stage you are actually seeing
Construction photographs can quickly become outdated. Ask the developer what work has been completed and what the next visible stages are rather than guessing from one image.
Separate construction progress from contractual delivery
Visible progress is useful evidence, but your contractual documents remain the source for obligations applicable to your purchase. Ask the team to explain any point that is unclear.
Keep a record
Save the project name, unit reference, current offer and the documents you receive. This makes later conversations with sales, finance and legal teams much clearer.
